Frequently Asked Questions

A considered approach.
Clear answers.

Planning your Diamond integration should feel effortless. Here is what to know about creating an intelligent home or business that works on your terms.

Your project

What can Diamond SmartTech do for my space?

We design, install, configure, and support intelligent residential and commercial systems. From lighting and security to automation and connected workspaces, we bring compatible technology together around how you want to live and work.

Do I need to choose equipment before we speak?

Never. Begin with the experience you want; simpler daily routines, more intuitive control, or better visibility across your property. A specialist will happily work with you to translate your desires into practical technical plans, explaining in detail every recommendation throughout the process. Share your priorities and existing equipment before purchasing additional devices.

Can you integrate devices I already own?

Potentially. We assess the exact model, firmware, connection method, and available integrations. A “smart” label does not guarantee compatibility or local control. Model numbers help us understand what can be retained and where a different approach may be needed. If it is of your interest, we will happily integrate what you already own within the veil of possibility.

Control & ownership

The most valuable technology leaves you in control.

What is the cloud, and why avoid depending on it?

The cloud is computing or storage provided by remote servers accessed over the internet. With a cloud-dependent device, a simple action, such as switching on a light, may travel to the manufacturer's servers and back before anything happens in your space.

Keeping compatible controls and automations local removes that outside dependency from everyday operation. Commands can respond more quickly, fewer routine activities need to leave your property, and core local functions do not rely on a vendor's server availability. You are also less exposed to a provider discontinuing its service, changing its subscription requirements, or deciding which features you can keep, which could leave you dead in the water.

The benefit is not simply less cloud. It is more control over the space you own. A company that requires you to use the cloud has complete sovereignty over your data and devices. Most cloud services sell the data from your cameras, door logs, location, behaviors, and more without an option to opt out.

Assuming a cloud service did honor your privacy, never increased a subscription fee, never discontinued a product, and never had downtime, you are still not safe. Cyber-attacks are an ever-increasing threat to our daily lives. If a cloud service did everything right and befell a cyber-attack, you would still be dead in the water until they can recover their data and servers.

Don't rely on cloud. Stay local, stay private, stay in control.

What does "local" actually mean?

Every Diamond System operates completely and solely from within your local network. Your local network runs on your router, which provides WiFi and Ethernet connectivity to your devices. Every system is completely independent from one another. Because everything runs serverless in your own home, there is nothing Diamond SmartTech or anyone else can do to prevent you from using your system freely and privately.

Will my system work if the internet goes down?

Yes. Functions designed for local operation can continue while their required power, local network, and controller remain available. Remote access, online content, notifications, and devices dependent on outside services may be affected. We outline these dependencies during planning.

Will I need subscriptions?

Never. Our aim is to eliminate the need for a service model in which you never truly own what you pay for. Purchase the system and it's yours, forever. Optional third-party services and integrations may have separate charges or account requirements. Those aspects will be determined and noted in the planning conversation.

Who owns the system and its data?

You own the system we install and all its associated data. We prioritize client control and never lock you into a vendor. Any third-party services used by selected equipment have their own requirements and data practices.

Can I access my system while away?

Absolutely. Remote access is configured for every system with encryption and the latest security standards.

Planning & investment

What should I budget?

Your investment depends on the space, desired features, equipment, network readiness, and installation complexity. Share your priorities and a comfortable budget range so we can discuss a scope that serves you well.

Can the system grow with me?

Always. Our system is built to be infinitely modular, meaning you can start small and continue to add as many features as you desire. There is no minimum or maximum limit to a Diamond System.

How long will installation take?

Timing depends on scope, equipment availability, site readiness, and scheduling. Include any deadlines in your inquiry so feasibility can be discussed for your project.

Do you serve my location?

Send your city or ZIP code with a brief project description so we can confirm availability for your location.

What happens if I need help after installation?

Contact us with the affected device, symptoms, and any recent changes. A specialist from our team will rapidly work to resolve your issue. Never include passwords or access codes in an inquiry.
